'I'm half-man, half-turmeric': James keeps running on Turmeric+

James Pardey

'It’s my joyful thing'

‘Running is as good for your head as it is for your body,’ says James Pardey (55), a devoted runner, cyclist, father of two and a coder specialising in medical applications. ‘For me, running has always been about headspace. All the stresses of day-to-day life that just pile up… You go for a run and it's just like a release valve, a pressure release. It’s my joyful thing.’

James has been a passionate runner since he was a child, going for long morning runs every day before school on just ‘a raw egg and milk’.

‘But it hasn't been getting easier as I get older,’ he says. ‘I started thinking, crumbs, maybe my running days are over.’

James started looking for support and saw an ad for Turmeric+. ‘I'd heard about turmeric, but the ad talked about it being 30 times more absorbable than standard turmeric powder. My background is science-based and I thought, okay, I get it. That sounds really good.’

James started on a free trial one-month supply and took it every day. At first, he didn’t notice a change. ‘It was only when I came off it that I really noticed. Within a week or two, I was, like, whoa! I hadn't realised that it was making a difference.’ He signed back up for the subscription and has taken it every single day ever since.

Curcumin that stays in your body for longer

The active ingredient in turmeric is called called curcumin, famous for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, but difficult for the body to absorb. Turmeric+ uses a phospholipid complex called MerivaⓇ that combines curcumin and soy lecithin to make the curcumin 30 times easier to absorb than standard turmeric.

Superior to black pepper-based supplements, MerivaⓇ makes curcumin stay in your body for longer, up to 24 hours, so that it can support tissues that need it. MerivaⓇ is now the world’s most scientifically studied bioavailable curcumin formulation, with more than 45 human trials involving over 2,500 people.

Turmeric+ also contains vitamins C and D, which contribute to normal collagen formation for the normal function of cartilage. Turmeric+ is tested and certified for use by athletes by Informed Sport, the global assurance programme for supplements.

'It's transformative’

‘I’m half-man, half-turmeric,’ laughs James. ‘I just feel like everything's in its right place. I feel fantastic and the running's going really well. I’ve been hammering 10 miles, 10 miles, 13 miles, three times a week.

‘I’ve recently done the London Triathlon, a half-marathon in less than 90 minutes, and Bushy Park Parkrun in less than 20 minutes.

‘I’ve been genuinely amazed by the effect of Turmeric+, perhaps most importantly in terms of day-to-day well-being. It’s transformative. As far as I'm concerned, I'll be taking it for the rest of my life.’
